About us
The Department of Physiology at the Maastricht University is part of the Medical School. Our Faculty members are responsible for teaching in Physiology and systems Biology in the Medicine curriculum. In addition, we teach courses in Physiology at the Transnational University Limburg (tUL) and the University College Maastricht (UCM). Our research focuses on cardiovascular disease and biology of the heart and blood vessels. Most faculty members are principal investigator in the Cardiovascular Research Intitute Maastricht (CARIM). Research is conducted in three areas : Electrophysiology - Heart Failure - Vascular Physiology.
We have a research cluster consisting of 3-5 faculty members in each of these areas.
